Kobilini Steni are a series of impressively high, jagged rock ridges located above the villages of Oplevnya and Ochindol. They are situated on the southwestern slopes of the Beglichka Mogila (1,481 m) and Parshevitsa (1,431 m) peaks.
The rock phenomenon can be reached by various routes. One of them starts from Milanovo village, with a distance of about 11 km covered in approximately 3 hours. Part of the route passes along an old Roman road, then continues on narrower cart paths that cut the turns of the main road and shorten the distance.
Many legends are connected with Kobilini Steni—ranging from tales of the legendary outlaw Vulchan Voivode hiding his gold here, to stories of the mythical hero Krali Marko. According to other tales, thick fogs sometimes descend on the area, in which herds of wild horses get lost and fall from the vertical rocks.
